I’ve got a not-so-secret fascination with North Korea (To the point where I priced out how much it would cost for me to go there.) and I’ve watched every documentary and read every book I could get my grubby hands on.

Watching this video reminded me of a story from Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea where a woman admitted that when Kim Il-Sung passed she basically did her best to out-cry those around her during public mourning to prove her loyalty to the country. Watching this video made me wonder just how many of these people were doing it for show rather than out of true sadness. Judging by where they’re shooting it looks like they’re in Pyongyang, where only the “most loyal” of North Koreans are allowed to live.

Agreed.
